When an order is placed, the brand fulfills the order, also know as dropship fulfillment
The customer on your website receives communication from your store about their order. The brand simply works in the background to fulfill the order.
Payouts are automated through exchange collective, the cut is split between your Shopify store and the brand. Brands set their split and there is a 10% exchange collective commission. On the dashboard, the information is broken out for you so that it’s easy to see.

Orders are sent directly to the brand to ship to your customer, also known as drop-ship fulfillment. If items from multiple brands are ordered in one cart, those items are automatically sent to the correct brands for fulfillment.
Automatic order fulfillment tracking updates for you and the customer. Once the item is shipped by the brand the tracking is automatically updated on your Shopify and the customer is notified via your store. The brand simply fulfills the order in the background. Your store branding communications is what the customer sees.
