Link Crawler

Starting with your home page, the app crawls through the entire site and gives each link (including those to images, stylesheets, and other assets) a thorough examination:

• Is the URL properly formatted?
• Does the domain name exist?
• Is the web server online and responsive?
• Does the linked site have a valid, trusted SSL certificate?
• Does the server return an error (such as “404 Not Found” or “500 Internal Server Error”)?
• Is the link pointing to a parked domain without any useful content?

Comprehensive Reporting

While the crawl is in progress, the Overview report provides a summary of what types of issues and links were found so far.

From there, you can drill down to the Link report to see the individual URLs and their locations on the website. Various search and filter options allow you to further narrow down the report to exactly the links you are interested in. For instance, you can filter the links by their URL scheme (https, ftp, etc.), HTTP status code (200, 404, etc.), and media type (image, stylesheet, etc.).

Exporting a report to CSV or PDF format enables you to share the results with others or analyze the link data in external tools such as Excel or Tableau.

Scheduled Crawls and Notifications

Although you can manually start a new crawl at any time, it’s much more convenient to have the crawler check your site automatically on a regular basis. The app gives you the freedom to choose when and how often (monthly, biweekly, or weekly) you want your links to be checked.

After completing a crawl, a status email with a summary of the results is sent directly to your inbox. This ensures that you get timely alerts whenever a link on your website breaks and needs fixing.

Using regular expressions, you can specify exactly which parts of your website you want to have crawled and which parts you want the crawler to ignore.
